This week, Alpega was selected as a winner of the SDCE Green Supply Chain Award for 2020 by Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE), the only magazine in the supply chain industry covering the entire global supply chain.
Per SDCE, the award “recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and recognizes providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.”
So, why is this a big deal?
Well, supply chain sustainability is now an expectation among b2b and b2c consumers and stakeholders. Those companies that are holding themselves accountable and developing sustainable supply chain practices will be rewarded by consumers taking notice with their buying power.
The same holds true for supply chain solution providers in delivering products or services that contribute to their customer’s initiatives for green supply chain practices. It demonstrates commitment to meeting their customers evolving needs and challenges to solve, as well as their own dedication to sustainability as a whole. If these supply chain solution and service providers aren’t headed in the same direction as their customers, then they aren’t adding value.
And research shows that this is, in fact, where customers are headed. According to the 2020 Green Supply Chain Awards article at Supply and Demand Chain Executive, “…81% of companies are more focused on sustainability today than they were three years ago.”
This is telling for organizations and product/service providers alike. If being a leader in your respective industry is of strategic importance, then so should be sustainability. When it comes to supply chains, going green is the way to go.
A grateful thank you to Supply and Demand Chain Executive for naming Alpega a recipient of this timely and important award.
